Bikram Yoga is an optimal physical practice for beginners and experienced students alike to reshape and strengthen the entire body, cleanse the internal systems, and create vibrant good health. This yoga is a 90 minute series of 26 postures practiced in a heated room. The sequence was designed over 50 years ago to stimulate and improve all the functions of one's body, mind and spirit. We welcome you to join our community on the continuous journey of health, well being and happiness.
One of the main concerns people have is the heat, they say it is very intimidating but our answer is always simple. Do the best you can with the body you have today. Focus on your breath and take breaks when you need to. There is no judgement here, we clearly walk you through each and every posture safely. It doesn't get easier with time, but you get stronger. With each class you begin to tolerate the challenges of the class as you gain greater strength, flexibility and mental discipline. Practicing being comfortable when it is uncomfortable. There are many reasons for the heat...It warms up your body, the heat helps your muscles, tendons, everything loosen up in order to start the healing process from the inside out. Helps you sweat more, allowing your body to eliminate toxins and impurities. Mental discipline - the heat and the intensity of the yoga serve as a distraction to help your mind stay present in the room, it forces you to leave all stresses and worries of daily life at the door and start to focus on yourself. For 90 minutes the focus is on you and your body instead of the endless chatter, the lists, the responsibilities one faces on a daily basis.
When you first start practicing, your first goal is to acclimate yourself to the room, the heat, the postures. Each class we practice 26 beginner postures with two breathing exercises. While these postures are beginner, simple postures that does not mean they are easy. We focus on helping you do the best you can do, with the body you have today (and everyday is different). With time and patience you learn to focus more on your body and less on everything else. You learn to focus on your breath and movement letting this practice become a 90 minute open eyed moving meditation. It's not easy, but it's worth it!
The Studio is a clean, spacious, well ventilated area. We have a large reception area, Men's and Woman's changing rooms each with a shower, bathroom and private changing stalls. We have mat, towels and water available to rent or purchase.
Our teachers are all certified Bikram Yoga method instructors who are friendly and knowledgeable.
