My first Bikram Yoga class on January 3, 2015 was a watershed moment in my life. Bikram Yoga Falmouth (BYF) had been recommended to me by some friends, and after putting it off for about six months, I finally decided to give it a try as part of a New Year's resolution to get in better shape. As my practice has unfolded, it has indeed produced the desired effect: I feel better physically than I have in more than 20 years! However, my biggest surprise was the influence this practice has had on me beyond just physical aspects. In particular, it has opened up new interconnections between mind, body, and spirit. In the past, I had experienced such connections in pairs of two among the three: mind/body in physical exercise, and mind/spirit in my religious life. Before entering the BYF studio, my expectation was that over time the practice would begin to stimulate my ability to connect all three together – something akin to a water faucet being slowly opened up over time. I did not expect even a trickle in my first class, only that I would begin to get oriented with the faucet itself. In fact, what I experienced was that the faucet opened freely, with the mind/body/spirit connection flowing naturally and in abundance! Ever since then, the seemingly boundless opportunity for personal growth that this Yoga presents has kept me coming back as often as I can, enriching my life outside the studio in ways I never could have imagined.

"It's never too late,
It's never too bad,
And you are never too old, or too sick to start from scratch and begin again."
When I herniated two spinal discs on a very difficult mountain climb about 15 years ago, I realized how critically important it was for me to maintain a strong, healthy core and upper body. While Pilates was my first step in healing my injury, Bikram Yoga Falmouth (BYF) has come to play a very large, hand-in-hand role. I had tried Bikram Yoga years ago in two other locations (Virginia and Florida) and didn’t like the intense teaching style. When BYF came to town, I reluctantly gave it one more try. It took awhile for me to acclimate to the classes, but I stuck with it. Before long, I found that the unique combination of stretching, strengthening, and – yes! – the sweating, did amazing things for my physical, mental, and spiritual health (especially in these long, dark Cape Cod winters). It also synchs perfectly with my Pilates practice and other types of training. Every BYF instructor I’ve had has been kind, encouraging, and wonderfully instructive and wise. BYF is an important part of my life and a wonderful addition to our town! – Mary G.

Never in a million years would I have even thought of doing yoga! "Stretching" didn't sound like a real workout to me! But ever since my aunt Susan walked me through your doors, my perception has changed in many ways...including a more positive outlook on life! Can't thank you all enough for helping me to "stretch" my possibilities! You are all AMAZING and an inspiration to continue the "yoga journey."
I love every sweaty moment!
